The Paideia Pursuit

A blog about

Reading and Running

What is Paideia?

Paideia was used in Ancient Greece to refer to the eductional principle of which the most important part was general development and becoming a well-rounded individual. That means training not only the mind, but also the body and the soul.  I think a lot of people tend to focus on just studying or just sports, but the beauty of paideia is that it sees all these things as equal. You can’t be a well-rounded human being without challenging yourself mentally and physically. I think this concept taps into the idea of making your time on this earth useful and really experience what is it to be human to the fullest extent. Obviously you can’t do everything, but you can find the things that bring you the most joy and which challenge you in these different areas. The thing Paideia has taught me is to stop and think: how can I improve myself? Where am I lacking? Those questions lead me to the hobbies I will be writing about in this blog:  reading and running.
